Introduction

This course for non-specialists requiring an introduction to potential hazards when dealing with chemicals. Every effort is made to simplify the presentation by minimizing the use of scientific terms and by providing real-life examples. After outlining chemical properties of a wide variety of substances found throughout industrial processes details are given of Storage facilities, a design so as to comply with legal requirements   

  • Precautions to be taken when handling chemicals and related substance 
  • Techniques aimed a minimizing the risk of exposure, personal protective equipment, and Methods for treating chemical releases.      
  • Video presentations of real and fictional incidents are given along with practical workshops.

Training Methodology

This is an interactive course. There will be open question and answer sessions, regular group exercises and activities, videos, case studies, and presentations on best practices. Participants will have the opportunity to share with the facilitator and other participants on what works well and not so well for them, as well as work on issues from their own organizations. The online course is conducted online using MS-Teams/ClickMeeting.

Day 3:

  • Storage facilities for flammable liquids
  • Electrical hazards in storage areas

Day 4: Safe Working with Chemical Substances
