Introduction
Fiber optic technology has been grown rapidly in the last decade as is evident from the installation of fiber-optic telecommunication networks throughout the world. It is further exemplified by the deployment of undersea fiber cables across the Pacific Ocean. The aim of this course is to present a complete overview of all areas of fiber optic technology. Emphasis is given to the practical aspects of optical systems, installation, applications, equipment, and components. It also covers state-of-the-art developments in optical products, procedures, and applications.
Fiber Optic Installer training is designed for those who design, install, or maintain Fiber Optic Systems. It identifies you as an installer who demonstrates a practical knowledge of fiber optic theory, codes, standards, and practices widely accepted in the Telecommunications Industry today. In addition, this training incorporates two days of hands-on training including Fiber Terminations, Cable preparations, Fusion splicing, OTDR operation, and Optical Loss Testing. Learn skills that are applicable to all the functions required to safely and competently install fiber optics communications cabling.
Objectives
- Understand the operation and performance of optical communications systems.
- Grasp the practical issues involved in the installation and testing of fiber-optics equipment.
The aim of this course is to present an overview of various areas in fiber-optics technology, It is designed to help the student:
Training Methodology
This is an interactive course. There will be open question and answer sessions, regular group exercises and activities, videos, case studies, and presentations on best practice. Participants will have the opportunity to share with the facilitator and other participants on what works well and not so well for them, as well as work on issues from their own organizations. The online course is conducted online using MS-Teams/ClickMeeting.
Who Should Attend?
This course is suitable for anyone who is already engaged in or wishing to enter the area of optical fibers, or responsible for installation, maintaining, testing, and updating optical transmission systems and networks.
